Product categories are essential for organizing your e-commerce website, allowing customers to easily navigate and find the products they are looking for. Edgerp provides a straightforward process for creating and managing product categories. This document will guide you through the steps to create product categories.
Accessing Product Category Creation
To begin creating a new product category, navigate to Website ‣ eCommerce ‣ Products ‣ eCommerce Categories.
On the eCommerce Categories page, you will find a New button. Click this button to initiate the category creation process.
Upon clicking the New button, a new product category form will appear.
Entering Category Information
When the product category form opens, you will need to fill in the following information:
- Category Name: Enter a clear and descriptive name for the category (e.g., "Clothing," "Electronics," "Home & Garden").
- Parent Category: (Optional) If you want to create a subcategory, select the parent category from the dropdown menu. If it is a top-level category, leave this field blank.
- Image: (Optional) Upload an image that represents the category. This image will be displayed on the category page.
- Sequence: Enter a number to define the order in which the category will appear on your website's navigation menu. Lower numbers appear first.
Fill in each field with the relevant information.
After entering the category information, click the Save button to save the category.
Once saved, the category will be available on your website's navigation menu.
